Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom
Hey Clay,
I ended up getting my bolts online from fixatefasteners.com.au. They have a good range (of metric). But if you can't wait (and they stock them), then I guess a trip to the big green box is in order.

Clay, if nothing suitable a the green shed, try Classic Fasteners on Grange road, Welland
I think I may have got them for Ammo's ute in stainless then did a quick polish using the pedestal drill.
Chher,
Roger

There is a right way and a wrong way and then there is my way which is usually the long way.

Bunnings was a waste of time as is often the case. Konnect Fastners at Lonsdale came up with these.
Which I toot with a file, followed by 120 up through the grades to 2500. Then felt wheel on the drill with cutting compound.
Then file down the square bit under the head to fit in the hole snd cut off most of the shank.
Voila! Half an hour later…..

I reckon Bunnings motto should be "everything you don't need and nothing that you do "
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Here is the refurbished grille sitting in place.
Whole lot straighter than the old one. I was going to take out the vertical chrome like on a standard, but the horizontal bits need them there to hold them on. Most of the tabs are broken off and I ended up getting creative with a couple of self tappers. Spare grille I was thinking of using had the wobbly bottom bar tacked in place from behind, so I abandoned the idea of using it. Steel wool and crc are hands down my go to on the stainless.

Replace,set section here Scotty
I accidentally rusticated the number plate cleaning off some oversprayed enamel from the grille. Should have used turps.

Grille and indicators back on and I’m a lot happier with it.

Dreary old day after some nice autumn weather here.
Question:
Why do I always have random fasteners left over after most any job?

All re-fitted ok.

Tidying up concealed wiring. No grommets anywhere.

Hiding…..
