Project 2.
Re: Project 2.
You don’t HAVE to be in an FB/EK to enjoy the Nationals you know …..
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Project 2.
Good day yesterday for progress. Finished off clutch cable design. Used a spare spacer tube off front end to support cable in firewall. Engineer required a 3mm thick plate so mounted it on that. Will need to trim this plate to fit under wire loom hole pressing. Will paint it firewall colour.
Fitting tailgate skin today now that POR paint has dried.

Re: Project 2.
Is the question mark about the 'mate' or about the 'looking good' ???

Re: Project 2.
Brett does look good
. Do you expect the cable clutch to be lighter than the original hydraulic Ute clutch? Just curious. I often wonder if GMH over engineered the huge clutch pedal return spring under the dash??

Re: Project 2.
I really don't know yet Stephen. The little spring I am using is pretty much just to keep the pedal back and cable taught. The pressure plate springs will be providing the clutch pedal pressure and feel. I suspect there will be more 'feel' with a cable than with the hydraulic system.
I'm going cable throttle too

The old rod/linkage throttle is fairly agricultural but I’ve gotten use to it. It will be a challenge for my daughter though. I’ve said to her you want to learn to drive then start with the Ute

Re: Project 2.
Yes many moving parts. I'm going cable cause it will be easier to hook up the WW Stromberg and the spare ute has it all ready to swap onto Project2.

Re: Project 2.
Funny I had a Holden Astra with a clutch cable, and thought about doing the same with the red six.
When I took it apart I realised that the pedal was actually plastic !!! Go figure.
The modification look good Brett.

Yes I feel for you guys. We are still in fair painting conditions here in Adelaide region, though we had 19mm yesterday. First decent drop for a while. You’ll be cranking the halogen lamps Brett?

Re: Project 2.
Rain today so no paint work. Spent most of the day on the floor. Dogs checked I was alive a couple of times during the day.
Instead, mounted the HR rear axle in its' brackets and cleaned up backing plates and freshly machined drums and gave them all some black heat tolerant paint. Used the lights Clay
.
I couldn't put the extra nut on the U bolts to lock down the top plate (as previously discussed) as there wasn't enough thread to do it. Depending on engineer reaction I may just go back to standard bolts on the plates and ditch the U bolt as per HR specs. It's clamped tightly like an EK one so probably fine. Axles in with new bearings and seals and all tightened up ready for brake assembly tomorrow. The HR brakes are sooo more complicated than simple FB/EK ones. Seems like there are hundreds of springs going everywhere. Got my HR conversion handbrake cable so hopefully it fits OK. So rear axle will be fully reconditioned and ready for burn outs
No photos cause you've all seen/done it.
