Using currently available cleaning products (currently working up at Port Augusta) it appears I have 23-3009 & 3010 carbs which are original early HD X2 manual and auto factory fitment. Should work ok with the X2 headers on my HP bored to 186, stock head with high lift cam.

Needs a clean up and kits. Supplied choke butterfly’s and bracket to be fitted. Set up throttle and choke linkages. Heater outlets are ordered. Then I just need to fork out $1200 for a genuine air filter. Although I’ll probably just fit a couple of 6” sport filters. Reckon I might have a couple kicking around somewhere.

Removed carbs from manifold, carefully undoing W clip 1/4" tension nut on one side and separating carbs. Pulled down the front carb ready for arrival of the 3 litre ultrasonic cleaning tank I ordered. Will do one at a time I think to avoid confusion. Pulled out s ll the jets and valves, emulsion tube etc. Won't bother taking out the spindles until I see how they clean up.

Yer I wouldn’t use it on my body Greg. It’s worse than getting bitten. My first job in the cooper basin throttle cable on the whoopee (FJ45 Toyota) would clog up. We had some WA version of aeroguard in a yellow can we used like CRC. Young and dumb etc.

Carbys are off to Chris Carbiologist at Aberfoyle park for a refurb. He is at Aberfoyle Park, not too far from me. I don't expect them back in a hurry as there is currently a shortage of single barrel Stromberg rebuild kits, due to accelerator pump plunger leather shortage apparently.
Meanwhile ute gets a much needed wash in preparation for a blat up to Balak with Raff in the morning.
