Not the bonnet lacing holding it up Brett?

Hi Brett, my bonnet corners at the hinges were the same...they sat up but could be gently pushed down. I sprayed some lithium grease (bit messy) on all moving bits and they were fine. WD40 would probably work and be a neater option. Patrick

Yes Clay you are probably right. There has been no weight on that new rubber on the back so that is probably a factor. Good idea Patrick I'll try a bit of WD40. I had sprayed a bit of dry lithium grease on them but it may not be getting where it needs to be. Side gaps are OK and front is sitting OK too. Thanks as always.

Success with clutch. Had a look on You Tube last night and picked up some good tips. It seems air in the master cylinder is often the culprit and while there are various ways to get it out, the easiest and cleanest is to set up a suction hose with a rubber tip that can seal into the inlet hole at the bottom of the reservoir and suck any air out. I did that this morning and with 2 sucks all the air came out and amazingly the clutch came good. Gravity bled the slave cylinder (let it drip out with the nipple cracked open) and jobs right. Second best thing is there is no engine bay mess.
It would seem that brakes bleed at slave cylinder nipples, clutches bleed at master cylinder🤔

Good news Brett. Makes sense really, being a short vertical run and relatively large diameter pipe.

Poking around getting jobs done in engine bay. Can someone give me an idea how far down the distributor sits when it is engaged with oil pump? I pulled it out to adjust timing and am now not sure if it's fully in. O ring is level with block. Thanks😀

How much further (what a strange word) in?

The o-ring goes fully into the block (so you cannot see the groove anymore), then another 4mm further-er. The are normally set up so that the indicator/clamp bottoms out on the block at that point.

Many thanks Harv. Perfect.
New O ring isn't helping either. Will have another go tomorrow. Will put clamp at that dimension and take O ring off, set it up, then pull it out and put straight back with O ring.

Hard to tell in the photo, but is that a Vintage Racing Developments dizzy? His overhauls are immaculate, but the o-ring is damn tight. ,

The ardiesse method works though: line up the oil pump, grease the o-ring heavily, take the cap off, stand on a milkcrate and lean heavily on the dizzy (whilst trying not to bust the dizzy internals).

Cheers,

Wonder off you could make a mini ring installer setup for these. Hey it's a grey motor. Throw the o-ring and wrap some hessian in the groove.

Dizzy in, thanks fellas. Took O ring off, lined drive up then reinstalled with O ring. Worked a treat with a bit of muscle.
Coolant in- no leaks with no pressure. Wiring in engine bay done and a nice combo digital oil and water gauge in place to keep an eye on things.

Tomorrow is fuel filter install and final check over and run. ImageImage
