I bought mine about 7 years ago. Can't remember if it was American Autoparts, Rares or eBay.

Thanks for the kind words people. At this stage I have to take a break. In a week or two will see what I can do. At the moment whole hand is in a cast so can't do anything useful. Its a bit annoying cause I've got four doors in acrylic primer- so not moisture proof. Not much I can do about that at the moment.

Harv's drain tubes turned up in the post today. Don't know what I did to deserve this generosity, but much appreciated thank you.
Thought I'd take a picture because there are probably many like me who have never seen them before. I will investigate getting some made later.
Got a mate coming over next week to help me get some yellow on the doors to keep them moisture proof while I'm waiting to return to the saddle. Will see how left handed spraying goesImage.

I've been fortunate enough that quite a few of the guys on the FX/FJ, FE/FC and FB/EK forums have helped me over time. Parcels of "unobtainium" show up either gratis, or at very low cost. It's a behaviour that you don't see often on FaceBook, and helps to prevent guys like EarlyBitz pricing us all out of a hobby.

Never hurts me to pay back a little of that.

Quick and dirty paint on doors to seal them up, and no more on Wilma for a month or more. Very frustrating watching everyone getting on with it, but upside is that I have had plenty of time to catch up on the many project threads in this and the fc/fe forum. Amazing stuff everywhere you look. Image

You’re in a good pozzie with the doors Brett. You can leave them for a quick tidy up and final paint whenever it suits you. Quality time with mother now while you heal up will yield a net benefit to the project no doubt.
What ever you can do to help circulation to your finger will help it heal quicker. (With apologies for the gratuitous unqualified medical advice).

Couldn't stand doing nothing on Wilma any longer. One and a half handed gearbox overhaul started today. Harv's notes were invaluable getting it apart. Happy chappy as all gears are ok and synchro cones and clutch assembly good too. Bit of bearing wear and also countershaft wear. Kit on hand to sort that. Enough done for today- getting circlips out with one good hand is a challengeImage

Gearbox reassembly day today. Using Harv's notes as my guide. Tried to buy a new 2 race output shaft bearing (as per original) with no luck, so ended up using the kit supplied single race - but took the dust cover off it to have both sides open, as per original. The other issue with using the single bearing is that when reinstalling, the retaining clip has to get past the original bearing clip groove to sit where it should with the narrower replacement bearing in the second (inner) groove. Harv covers this in the notes. Used a feeler gauge to stop it catching and slide over the outer groove. It would be painful to get it seated on the outside groove as you were trying to install it. Pics show the groove in question and progress made to lunch. Haven't touched a gearbox for 35 years so enjoying playing today very muchImage.
No rust either!

Is there anything wrong with your old double-row mainshaft bearing? 'Cause if it feels smooth, I'd be inclined to re-use it.

The mainshaft bearing in my Humpy went noisy a few years back, and I wasn't going to use a single-row replacement, so I scrounged a good, used double-row one. Had to get the workshop to make a spacer to put between the bearing and the speedo drive gear, because my mainshaft only had the circlip groove for the single-row bearing.

The bloke I got the double-row bearing from said that the same bearing is used in the Mitsubishi Express, and they are still available. But you need to get the groove machined in the outer race.

And -

Is that some pitting I can see on the teeth of the first/reverse sliding gear? If I've got the direction of rotation correct, there's a chance it'll be noisy in reverse, and when you decelerate in first.
