This is the style globe I have currently for indicator teltales. W3W 12V. I believe this is 3 watts which could be my problem. In az n earlier post 59 wagon says they should be 21 watts. If vintage wiring had used the original style globe holders in their loom this might not have been an issue. Although 21 watts sounds high. I suppose if I could put it across a known voltage and measure the current?

Going from memory here, but if you take the switch out and loosen but not remove the screws holding the contacts and springs, you should be able to get some WD-40 in there, and then if you work the switch repeatedly, the contacts may clean themselves. You don't want to have all the balls and springs go "sproing" and get lost.
The indicator repeater in the red rattler operates the right one for both left and right , at first it gave me the irrits , now its just another foible of that old girl ...... hoping when I fix the wiring up it still does it to be honest
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

So much for that. Got very frustrated trying to get the horn working. The horn that was working, I painted and had on the car, I pulled apart for a look. Fairly clean inside, I gave the points a rub with emery paper. I couldn’t see the faces but assume they are clean and bright. Put back together with mastic around the edges to seal either side of the diaphragm. Connected across the battery it tries to beep at energise and de energise. Seems as though the points aren’t opening although I played with the adjustment. I may need to go tighter but it is pretty tight already now.
Contacts in the wheel seem to be causing a voltage drop as well so will pull apart and clean. I suspect the sweeper spring which is very fiddly of course.

The guts of those points are not real great. Really robust when assembled, but once disturbed it is easy for the +ve side of the contact post to earth inadvertantly. The horn will poot on connection, and poot again on disconnection. It soon becomes a "drill the rivets out of the points" exercise. Don't ask me how I know

Thanks Harv, you’ve described the symptoms. Drill the rivets out of the points eh? I’ll have another look when patience and perseverance return.
I will take up Rob’s suggestions for addressing the indicator switch as well. I only have one of these ute/van style switches. It must have come from the van as the ute had no indicators from factory. The switch doesn’t explain the telltales issue but the front left indicator circuit is intermittent and works when pressure is applied to the indicator stalk. I guess it is possible improving the contacts within the switch will sort the telltales.
To top it all off the negative lead on my multimeter severed.

Horn: It sounds like the contacts aren't separating when you apply power. Loosen the locknut and back the adjuster out until the horn doesn't "poot" when you apply power. Then, with power applied, turn the adjuster inwards until you (hopefully) get a clear, loud note. And apologise to the neighbours.
Bit of a fiddle and horn works off the battery. Battery at 12.7V
Getting 12.1V across the horn connections. Connections all spottlesly clean. Plug connections to horn terminals. No horn!!! Tried adjusting the points in and out half turn at a time to no avail.
