Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Great thread Clay! Just read it from start to finish and made lots of notes to go back and refer to later - and questions to ask..
Very inspirational, keep up the good work.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Good to hear Dave. Thread is a lot bigger than I would have wished really. This is the car I just wanted to get on the road so I could have a driver to enjoy while I progress my panel van. It is a good way to document the build, get inspiration and advice. If others get a benefit that is a big bonus. Sadly there aren’t that many current projects going on the forum lately. Facebook seems to have taken a toll. So it is good to know that there are still a few getting involved on here.

Clay, Im still here !!!
I just haven't done anything interesting and worthy of photos lately.
I've looked at Facebook and lets just say not my cup of tea, so to inspire like you have I will update my project shortly.
Yes indeed this stuff takes a lot of time, some build faster than others but at the end of the day its what you are comfortable with.
Keep going mate all this practice will make the van easier and much quicker because you now know all the short cuts.
Regards Greg

And I'm still here Clay
I'm like Greg I don't facebook I think it can be anti social with a lot of people sitting behind a screen making all sort of comments, my wife tells me about some of the stuff that she gets
I love the forum for being able to document our builds I'm sorry I never documented the different stages that I took my fc sedan through over the 12 odd years of its build only really started taking photos in the last stages when the V6 was going in.
I really enjoy seeing the things you have taken on mate, always the way once you start things just snowball and I'm just at the point where I don't have much to report lately.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
There’s a hole in my bucket dear Liza dear Liza.....
My obsession the last few years with this has lead me to neglect other things around the house. Running out of firewood after several years burning a stack of red gum I got felled. Went to start the chainsaw. No go. The 6x4 trailer lights work sort of so went to the wood yard. Cash only. Ok got the wood home eventually and under the carport as it’s pissing down here. Playing with the saw. Better get fresh fuel. Okay so got to unload the trailer first. Load up the wheel barrow. Better put some air in the tyre. Should have done that a year ago actually because the valve stem has gone inside the rim. Off with the wheel and tyre except there is still air in the tube so tricky to get the bead over the rim. No leaks in the tube amazingly. So now I just have to put it all back together, unload the wood, go get the fuel, try the saw again, I’m not pulling the carby off so then I’ll have to take it down to the shop.
Then I might get back to this ute.

Man that sounds like my place. It's the reason my EK wagon has taken more than a decade.
Either that or my terrible tendency to get distracted. Oh look! A squirrel!
Cheers,

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Another wheel arch repair
but not a patch on the other side
Rail to complete
Then there is the outer sill

I’m going to patch it as it is generally solid. A good clean out and fish oil

Got carried away with the rosettes

Beat out a few dents in the tubs as well. Turned out a good day after all.

Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Made an interesting discovery. The inner sill to rear chassis rail box tie was full of the familiar mallee loam. No surprises there. It was however virtually saturated, forming a nasty oxidising poultice. Must have been like that at least since I gurneyed the underside quite a few weeks ago. Rest assured it’s all drying out nicely now and will get a hiding with the aforementioned fish oil.
Here is some of the mud and also dry stuff from inside the sill. The general did set these old things up to be absolute rust buckets really.
