First Post and some questions

Post by Zuffen »

I currently don't own a Holden (although I do own an LS3 powered special) and the last Holden I owned was a Walkinshaw (build #454) but have had 3 LC GTR's (one raced in Production Touring in 1974) and an HR.

I've been mulling over building another special based on an FB/EK.

It would be mid-engined and I would need to chop up a sedan an a wagon to get the parts I need.

I wouldn't need any running gear, floors or interior trim, dash/instruments.

Due to crushing myself between two cars last weekend I get to spend 6-8 weeks in bed, planning my next project.

I figured it would be good to get an idea as to some indications on prices.

To that end could anyone let me know roughly what the following would cost (Ball Park figures)

1. Sedan body (can be rusted away from waistline down). So really need only the turret and plenum.

2. Wagon body from waistline down (turret isn't needed at all.)

3. Wagon lower tailgate

4. All front tinware, but the condition of the rear of the bonnet isn't important.

5. All chrome trim for an FB sedan.

6. Front screen (laminated)

7. 4 doors for a sedan.

I'm located in Sydney, but long distance recovery projects just add to the fun.

All help appreciated.

maybe just look for a reasonable FB wagon that covers all yor parts bar the sedan turret etc (plenum is the same sedan/wagon) a reasonable (but still not great) wagon is going to still cost you probly $3,000 up unless you get lucky. the sedan turret stuff could probly be had for close to nothing to say $500 max for a basket case to cut up

buying the parts individually as you have listed i think would cost much more
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

I'm guessing so, the give away is the near crushing.

Mick's right on the price.

I'm trying to work out exactly what you're upto marrying a wagon and a sedan......

I haven't been over there for ages, so have no idea on whats been happening, but the Mitsi certainly hit my sweet spot when I regularly perused.

Cant wait to see what happens with this new toy.

The Mitsi, or FARGO as it's officially know is a bit bent right now after trying to kill me last weekend. The truck will repair OK.

This won't involve a Mitsubishi, time to look at other brands.

It is mid engined from Factory and should let me slide a V8 into it.

The costings you mention sound good.

I don't want to cut up a car that would be better in a restorer's hands.

I'm lucky to spend more than five minutes there every couple of days now....

I'm keen to see the outcome to the Fargo conversion was pretty damn cool.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply to my own Thread but I've been laid up a bit from my accident.

The idea was a cab forward FB/EK on a Nissan Serena inner skin.

The Serena is mid-engined to start with and you sit behind the front wheels (on top of the engine) and the front wheel arch of the FB/EK would work well with the Serena front door.

Major surgery but that's the challenge.

All the dimensions work well and my Engineer thought it would be OK as a modified vehicle and not an ICV.

The idea is on the back-burner as I have trouble working for more than an hour, then needing 2 days to recover.

Maybe one day.

You get forgiven for not posting because the concept is very, very cool, and not pie-in-the-sky - you have the ability to do it 8) .

We had a sneak peak and some discussion while you were away:
