torana diff hand brake set up in fb ek

Post by EK JAY »

:smile22: any one got any pics of a handbrake set up when running a torana lc lj diff
to keep the original fb ek front cable set up and join the 2 rear cables that come of the torana diff
to the front cable hope this makes sense

I just rang Autocables and told them I had a LJ diff in an FB and they sent me the right cable , they have all the measurements on file .
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Ring Autocables and tell them you have an LJ diff in an FB and they will send you one - simple as that !!!!

Yup, what Blacky said. I put an EH diff in mine and called them up with the details of what I had. Best thing was I had it the next day!

Thanks guys ill give them a call ,
So i presume bolting in the new cable will use the oem fb cable holding brakets.
Ive just finished the trimatic crossmember and now need to adapt the handbrake bracket back in its place to the new member.
Would any one have picture of this set up
Edit, if been reading this site and seems i cant just bolt the fb backing plates to the lj diff?
Thanks again

Yes , new cables will use the stock locating points

No , the diff wont go straight in , Toranas use a 4 link type setup , FB/EK's are leaf spring, you will need to cut all the mounts off the Torry diff and weld on a set of leaf spring mounts. Make sure you get the pinion angle right or you will have vibration issues.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Gday blacky ,
Ive shaved the lj diff down close call nearly put the grinding disk straight through the diff breather which hides under the upper control mount and i have ordered some spring perches , if they are no good ill use the fb ones.
Is there a degree to look for for the pinion angle, i was going to remove the loweing blocks so the fb back to std then put a digital level on the std pinion and go for the same degrees with the lj pinion.

Edit, everybody like pics :D

I achieved the same result in a different way.
I had an EH housing narrowed, fitted with LC axles and bolted HR drums to it.
The housing was cut between the spring mounts and the wheel bearings,
stock HR hand brake cable fits.

not doubting you at all but you would have had to do something where the handbrake outer cable mounts to the body i know i had to once before i figured they were just a phone call away and bolt in
