My FB petrol tank is corroding on the upside (so into the boot)
The smell is making for some serious petrol head moments and dizziness - Not as fun at is sounds
Can anyone recommend somewhere to take the old girl to get this sorted? Preferably someone that's not a rip off and knows what they are doing/enjoys working on old cars.

How bad is it? Post up a pic. You could do the cheap and nasty fix using kneed-it if its only a couple of holes. I've repaired a tank like this on the side of a road and never touched it again. Or if its really bad you can get the POR15 tank repair kit but that's a do it yourself type thing. Unless you can talk the guy selling it into doing it for you? Otherwise I can't really recommend anyone to do it around where you are, maybe talk to a radiator repair place and see if they can do it.

It's not very bad by the looks of it? Just in a few small spots.. I have already done the old cheap and nasty knead-it job.
On closer inspection it looks like there are a few tiny pin holes i've missed where it's now getting through!
I think for now some more knead-it is the go-er, but it's good to know about this POR15 tank repair kit.. I have a friend that would probably do it for a slab of beer
I do a heap of tanks. You probably dont want to hear this but if you have a tiny pin hole the other side will be rust about ten mm in diameter. I usually split the tsnks and get them sandblasted Inside and the weld them back togetber repairing the holes.
I did a bike tank that way today.
When you use the tank liner kits follow the Instructions to the letter. Having said that ive have a few fail and then you have another pro

I dont like using the liners but I still do them because I cant think of another way of sealing the tank from rusting after its welded.
Its labour intensive and expensive. A tank liner kit for a bike is about $80. A car one is more than double that plus all the labour

Hey bootlegger - I am totally prepared for the worst with this. Its been leaking for a while. I can't work out how to post a pic here?
After having the car warmed up and idling for about 10mins I noticed it coming through a couple of pin holes near the original spots I had patched with epoxy (knead-it)
The patched spots are about the size of a 20cent piece. Would replacing the tank be a better alternative? Thanks for all the suggestions

You can always get another tank, just check it carefully first to make sure it's not too rusty or full of pin holes..
Really appreciate all the advice - this KBS one looks great! A friend of mine (who loves fb's) and has his own garage would probably help me do this.
Will give this a go first and if it fails then i'll try out the other options!!
