Hey guys,
My petrol has a slow leak from what seems to be the join of the top flat plate section to the bottom tub/tank section. I've tried to take the top off but haven't had any luck splitting the tank in two. I'm assuming the tanks are in two pieces and the top flat plate section you see from inside the boot is screwed to the bottom section and there is maybe a gasket in between??
Does anyone have any knowledge on this? am I way off in my thinking? and /or how would I go about fixing this?
thanks mate, what a bummer! I guess there must be a small crack somewhere then. Guess I'll have to drain the tank, wash it out and then try to find the crack and weld it up......
fun and games continue!!
mate there is a product on the market made by por 15
its marketed as
fuel tank repair kit
alot of the vintage motorbike guys use it
thats how i stumbled accross it
awsume product
it comes with a marine kleen product that does exactly that
cleens or the scale and preps the inside for the product
read the instructions very easy and well documented
then you pour in the end product next day
swirl it around making sure you have covered all the inside surfaces
pour out the excess and discard
it will fill holes seal cracks between spot welds
had this product in one of my cars for over 15 years
lots and lots of litres of fuel in that time
never had a problem
hope this helps mate
think the kit cost around $120
good value i think
