G'day Workvan - hope you land a van soon. Disks will ake your life a bit easier in the traffic, though there are plenty of people on this board who can stop pretty well with the drum set-up. For front ends with disk brakes, most people go HR Holden as the crossmember has little welding to bolt it in, updates to ball-joint suspension and gives you disks. However, there have been some wierd and wonderful front ends grafted into various EK's over the years - take a search through this site and you will see some very cool engineering, and good discussions on which booster etc to use. The best advice is to think how far you want to go before you start - do you want to put in a newer (or bigger) motor, or change stud-pattern to access nicer wheels, or update to a more-gears (or stronger) box or diff etc.... lots of stuff to think about. If you can make a plan up front, it makes it a lot easier to buy the right things first time (easier on the wallet... though having a shed full of bits is half the fun with EKs). Think about joining your state's FB/EK club - a few beers with guys who have done it before can save you a lot of grief. Good luck with the van.

Hey workvan,

Welcome, and what Harv said is the best advice. Work out a plan of what you want to do and stick to it or it will cost a fortune as I have found out.

Well yeh I spose, I guess my plans were money consuming ones. I did add a thing or two along the way.
OK so I'm just trying to justify it. :?

hey harv,
ive seen some vans on ebay.

Dont get me wrong, drums are great, but they wont stop well with a load in the back or a trailer on. I have an ek sedan i sorta call my s%^t box, but compared to the drummed fb, id rather be in the ek on a wet day.

Look into boosting the drums, this may be a cheaper option.

My ek has a hr front with a ek lip and still runs a grey motor. For work, try and get one with a red.... better fuel economy, better preformance, better durability and parts are cheap as chips and common. Well thats my two cents worth.

Hey also if your in sydney, for a complete set up ie disc front end etc ring slim on 0401303998.
