Wind Noise

Post by ek amigo »

Just wondering if there is any aftermarket add ons or anything that might help cut down the wind noise around the quarter windows , pillar area . I know aerodynamics were not high on the list back then , but I do remember some sort of perspex add ons.

G'day Amigo,
Turn up your radio

Are your quarter vent seals new? Old seals which ahve pulled away, even slightly, make a terrible whistling racket at freeway speed. A quick check can be done by putting some PVC insulation tape over the seals and going for a drive.

You can still buy aftermarket perspex windshields for the FB/EK, though I am not sure how much they reduce noise (mine are still in a box waiting for the EK to finally get on the road):

kia ora Harv , and thanks Trev , you'd have a fair bit of banjo music on 8 track down in the thaggi to listen too in the car I would reckon.
HaHa , will try the seal trick , otherwise I suppose Trev's got the answer.

Most likely culprit is the quarter window, I find if you crack it open just enough the whistle stops and the wind noise is minimal...

Then I turn the radio up!

I got sick of the banjo music so I got some strip rubber with a sticky side and sealed the quarter vent windows and they still make some noise, so up goes the banjo music again  .
