It wouldn't increase speed when I applied pressure on the accelerator pedal.
It would really misbehave so I took it to Frank Tedesco to sort out this issue before the Nats....
So we retuned the gray and checked the fuel tank, that was ok, then we loosened the fuel lines and retightened them.
That got rid of the bubbles in the fuel pump, Ok it's a start. But it still would stall on the hills.
So whats next, replace the fuel pump, that made things better but it still wouldn't fill the bowl with fuel.
Fitted a fuel filter and that seened to help a bit. Bugger I'll take it home and see how she runs.
By this time, the friday week before the Nats, I'm about to pull the pin....
So the weekend before the Nats I decided to take "Milkshake" down the coast (Nowra) to show my Dad.
It sailed down beautifully (Now it's all downhill to there) no problems at all.
Thinking to myself, I might get to the Nats after all......
Returning home was a very different story....
First 10 miles were ok then it started to play up again. Pulled over and checked the fuel system and it looked ok.
The bowls full of fuel, carby sprays fuel. W.T.F?
Ok so we go another few miles and the same thing happens.
The bowls full of fuel, carby sprays fuel. W.T.F?
Ok so I give Frank a ring, HELP!....
Got some ideas and checked the fuel in the float bowl in the carby. empty. Bugger.
This means it has been pumping fuel up into the cary and running on that until it was empty and then would run out and stop.
When I was cranking the motor it would refill the carby and start again. Then run out and stop.
So that got me to Dapto where I rang the NRMA for a truck home. I wasen't about to risk Mt Ousley....

It was about this time that I was seriously thinking of ringing the motel and cancelling my booking.
Or traveling as a passenger with Rustydungers.
Frank rang back to find out what was going on and I told him it was on a truck.
He said stuff it, bring it over and I'll fix it today. Hang on it's a sunday, don't care I hate loose ends
Can't ask for better than that from a machanic can ya?...
So it came off the truck at my place and I managed to drive it to Franks.
We left Nowra around 8am and it was now midday.
Next step was to check out the carby itself. It appeared ok and Frank had a plated recon there so I said throw it on
when we find the problem I'll at least have a new fuel pump and carby.
Frank and I did a lot of test drives and it ran fine, even up hills.....
So home we go, no problems, until the next morning, I was checking around the engine bay for faults
and looked at the vaccum advance line, the rubber hose of the dizzy looked funny so I took it off and bugger me it had a hole in it!
So when I asked for vaccum to advance the timing all I was getting was air.
Problem solved...
Althrough I had to get my blueslip with a Repco generic horn, my origional one wasen't ready from the auto electrican,
or my sunvisor from the blaster which I picked up on the thursday and dropped of to Rusty on the friday morning we left, sailed to the Nats and home again.
On the way to Rustydungers place 6am on rememberance drive
