Any difference between FB and EK front guards

Post by FeeBee »

I'd tried to search, but came up with no result. Apologies if this has been asked before.

I know the FB and EK grill are different, but are the front guards different?. I have the ones on the car now and some spares, but i cant seem to make out any differnces where the front grill sits.

Yes they are differant. Where the grill bars sit is in the wrong place and i think the bottom of the gard at the front where the apron bolts on is a differant shape.

The only difference is the mounting brackets for the different grille/indicators , the basic shape of the guard is the same - including where it meets the stone tray.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

so its just the grill support on the side thats different. I was looking last night and I was stuggling to see any difference on the guard at all.

Is it right that the FB grill is 3 individual stainless strips? As i was dismantling the front they came out after I removed the indicators.

And another question for the front.... :grinnn: the chrome strip on the bonnet. I have the FB chrome on the guards still and the chrome on the bonnet does not finish flush with the side chrome. The bonnet chrome protrudes more forward than the side chrome. Is that because its an EK bonnet and chrome.

Yes mate , the EK bonnet bar is a different profile to its superior precursor

Okay, have taken a photo of the two guards on the car. I have also checked the 2 spare guards as well and they are just like these....

THE PASSENGER SIDE

THE DRIVERS SIDE

Shouldn't the grill brackets be the same? Please correct me if I am wrong but I think the FB grill brackets should be like the Passenger side.

Oh yes, also if you're going EK-FB you will have to carefully mark out the holes where the indicator housing attaches to the sheet metal. Also these spots will have to be flattened off so the sheet metal sits square against the ends of the housing mounts. I made it sound complex, but it isn't. :)

The holes had been filled, but I discovered today that I have one EK and one FB guard also.
Haven't looked into what I need to do to make them back to suit EK.
I wonder it that was why one of the indicator sections was screwed into the guard to hold it on ? :dohh: :dohh:
