Nice work Stewart,
makes me envious and now I'm busting to get mine finished.

Can I ask what the gearbox came out of? It looks to be an early FE/FC with the cast clutch fork and and narrow extension housing.
Also mate just to let you know in case things dont look to line up with the radiator, but your thermostat housing top is on backwards. You probably already know that.

Anyway its all looking good. Cant wait to see the finished product.

It was in the wagon when I got it.

Yep I've picked up on the thermostat...

Mainly just down to time now and how much of it I can put in. The only outstanding costs that I can see are the exhaust system, rubber mats and retrim rear cargo area.

That is no where near as embarrassing as when I put a pick of my new twin carbs for the grey only to be told they were on backwards

as for yor inspiration, thommo's car well what else can you say but

i to have allways loved the crupi cars, as for the FB i've allways had a sour taste in my mouth with that car

and no fault of the car or owner but the peanuts that judge the all holden day it beet my convertable for modified

Now now sour grapes never looks good Mick but I know what you mean. The NSW usually sponsors a trophy and for some reason I usually end up having to find a worthy recipient. it's tircky given there are approx 800 Holdens to look at

My method of judging is to walk around with my with my son Thomas with one simple question...which Holden do you most want to drive home in today...and there's your winner...

Wow nice donk man! Looks awesome... as does the starter and generator ...wow!

Congrats on getting the motor in! Did the engine builders test run it with the carbs on? Just wondering if its ready to go or will need a fine tune....and if you will wait till its all completed before hitting the key for the first time?

Anyway top stuff man, a real inspirational ride ...im so glad I made it here to watch the closing stages!

Stu,

Car is looking fantastic!

If you get a chance, let me know the numbers that are stamped/cast onto the box. There should be:
a) a serial number stamped in to the main casing on the passengers side rear corner (where the extension bolts on),
b) a casting number (either 7400125 or 7409980) cast into the main casing
c) a date code (eg D308) cast into the main casing

With these numbers, I can work out what car the gearbox was originally fitted to.

Marty - thanks man. No bench testing. Will definitely need fine tuning. My mechanic has offered to be there when we fire her up.

What a hot looking grey motor. That wagon has definitely had all the business. Your continuing saga has given "Old Timer" a real aura of a Legend, risen from the brink of ruination, only to come back, better, after a supreme effort from quite a lot of good people. Your old wagon will always be fondly regarded by the folks on this forum who have keenly followed this story from day one.
