HQ front disks instead of HR front end?

Post by Matthew4655 »

Im wondering can i just swap the front drums for HQ disk breaks instead of swapping the whole front end in off a HR? (This is so i can fit a new motor maybe a 186 still thinking)
For my EK sedan by the way

umm - no. An original front end is a king pin style whereas HR front is a ball joint type as is HQ. If you had a HR front you could change the stubs and fit HQ type but that will also change the stud pattern to 5 x 4 3/4" . There is a conversion to fit discs to a king pin front but its a pain in the bum to achieve and the results are barely worth the effort.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
