It adds to whole backyarder persona.
Ill be buffing the car with good old green max compound and a wool pad. Then a glaze after that.
The farecle is good for two pac and the foam pads burn acrylic if you arent careful quicker than you can blink.

Great job guys! Well done. Ain't nothing wrong with being a humble backyarder.
No worries Dave, the Farecla G3 is for 2K, the G6 for acrylic. We used it as the ordinary compound and lambswool pad stratched and swirled badly. Came up well. Yeah, you have to be careful though.

i helped do the bodywork and came up with the paint scheme
it won't be raced kinda built as a tribute to the old style '70's funny cars blown injected big block, and was a mint car till we cut it up

Thanks Mick. I've considered renaming this thread from 'Rebuilding' to 'Rescuing of Old Timer'. I seriously had no idea what I was getting in for but I was determined not to be another unfinished project. I like it - its got a real 70's feel to it. Is there going to graphics/writing/name on it? Still a way to go yet, Stewart ... the project is now firmly back on your plate. Dave has achieved a wonderful result, I'm pretty confident you won't let him down by not rushing re-assembly.

Yes, it is great to hear that the thinners are coming out - I would suggest a very good airing regualarly. The top layer of the paint will be quite soft for some time. Dave will know when it's time to buff it. Many take to it with a buffer far too soon for it to pull down and harden - a much greater lustre can be obtained by holding off a bit and waiting for more thinners to escape. Dave knows what he's doing, I houlsd probably keep my thoughts to myself........

It has indeed been a long, long time since we put that VCD together and converted it to MPEG - it is going to be an absolute thrill to assemble the two - the second a re-run in Old Timer's "rescued" state.....

Thanks Rosco. I'm planning on re-assembly being methodical and with hopefully a lot more 'fun' factor... The photos I've been posting up is just the tip of the ice-berg...most of the 'milestones' have been documented on digital video too...

Hey Russel thanks for that. Yep Parisian Lilac is great colour. It sort of changes 'colour' depending on the light. Sometimes it looks off white but it also can be a grey/blue. I havn't seen too many in the 'steel' either. There's Tony Grimas modified and a wagon in the Qld Club I think. The GMH Body ID plate chart lists about 6 Parisian Lilacs...
