Woody's 61 Special

Post by Woody01 »

hey guys,

finally found a car after a little bit of searching, it may look familiar to some of you on here, as i picked it up off another forum member.
The old girl isn't perfect, but it seems like a good base to start from. Apparently it was done up about 10 years ago, and doesnt seem to be too much bog in it, so hopefully she's honest...time will tell!

Im not 100% sure on how far i want to sink my teeth into it yet, wether to do a quick respray back to original colours, or a full nut and bolt job. But while i make my mind up i'm just having fun cruisin' it, and doing little bits here and there.
Im sure ill have lots of questions, and will be reading the forums a lot. Also wouldn't mind joining a club.

Enough talking - heres some pics, will get some better ones soon.

it will get customised a bit - not as crazy as your ek though Mick.

half thinking about giving it a quick spray job (closed door) in matt black, metallic roof or oxide red white roof. until im ready to pull it down and paint it properly... thoughts?...will be getting white walls, spats, visor, and venetian eventually too.

gave her a service, went crazy with tectal 506, and started tidying her up a bit, more parts to come off, will compile a list of parts i'm after to put on. heres more pics :)

Let me put it like this;

I had a goatee beard for many years back in the 80's. Never saw anyone else with one. It was individual, funky, and just a little bit edgy. I had respect. Chicks dug it. Then along came the great goatee plague of the 90's (which some of you might remember) and urban Australia was suddenly overrun with chunky-jumper wearing, goatee-bearded metrosexuals. I was shipwrecked, my individuality sunk. I was floundering helplessly, lost in a sea of pretentious facial hair. I was left no option except to shave-off my former pride and joy. It felt like I was cutting off my testes; such was the depth of my despair.

Paint a car matt black? I would rather get a tattoo, an eyebrow stud, or one of those ridiculous grommet things that kids are sticking in their earlobes these days.

i agree with mefb on the matt black thing, my mates are trying to talk me into painting my fc satin black, i thought i liked the whole craze but then i realised i have never taken a photo of a matt black car at a show or ever really given a second glance to one so i decided i would only be happy with it for 5 minutes.

Each to their own, but i reckon your ek looks cool already..

not everybody paints a car matt black to be trendy for some it's a colour choice, i'm quite sure there are more cameo beige EKs than matt black ones :ewink: and nobody is asking you to paint a car matt black

I did ask for thoughts, so thanks mefb and fasteddy. And thanks for the life story on your weird beard to mate :p

I think the paint looks better in the pics then in real life. It looks like a backyard job many many years ago. I was just thinking out loud about the quick Respray idea as Im not a huge fan of the colour.

Thanks Craig - really enjoying having it and throwing some spanners around again :) stay tuned for updates!

Jm - sunny coast cruise sounds good. I wouldn't mind driving it down to Bris every now and then.
