Thanks Scoob.

J - not far at all. Need to locate a coolant leak (I think it is coming from the temperature sensor in the side of the head), solder on the excite wire to the starter (I snapped the spade terminal off  ) and finally put some a terminal on the end of the power cable running to the starter. So, about 2 hrs work before I can kick it in the guts. However, I will not attempt to start it until our mate Paul Boz checks it over and sets up the timing.

Couple more shiny bits bolted on today:

I really want to have this done by Easter so if anyone is free to lend a hand after Wednesday to get her on the road I would be very appreciative!

I also ordered this for it: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/220974259150 ... 1439.l2649

FB now turns over 8) 8) 8)

To do:

Connect distributor sensor wires to MSD wires x2
Set fuel pressure @ regulator
Set static timing
Install ignition leads
Prime oil pump
Fill with fuel
Start
Run in cam
BURNOUTS

Does anyone know a mobile mechanic who may be able to do the above (timing related) and then help me start the thing? Would love to have it cruising for the weekend

FB lived for a short time today... then we had to shut it down.

It didn't have any oil pressure, because when I re-installed the oil pump after the cam swap I didn't pack it with grease.

Also, the MSD needs its trigger wire connected to the old coil power supply.

1 step forward, two back.

It sounded pretty stout for the 3 seconds that it did run :)

Reds are easy to get oil pressur eup - just stick an airline in the top of the rocker cover and pump 20lb or so of air into it - I used to use this method all the time on my speedway engines. Careful you dont blow the dipstick out of it though ........
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Grease or Vasoline should help with the oil pressure, or pull the plugs out and crank it over till it comes up.

Sounds tuff but wont go to long with the deadly rattle

So close yet so far I'm sure your excited.
