Cable wipers

Post by Malcolm »

Hey all,

Currently fitting the Vintage Air Con unit and having a shit load of trouble with the wiper arms getting in the road, so:

Does anyone know what model cars come out with cable operated wipers.
This may be an option.

Any info please.

Leyland Mini, Marina, and Triumph to name a few but the wiper sweep is not the same as early Holdens.

Check out the current issue of Australian Street Rodding. In the New Products there is an add for a cable type setup. Haven't got it with me here, so can't quite remember what it was made to suit exactly. I think it is more a multi fit unit though.

Mal, you could give Flex drive industries a call. Ph: 03 9381 9200 or go http://www.fdrive.com.au/.
All the vehicles mentioned by fastjbav6 have cable operated systems, but will be hard to convert or modify due to the same sweep as opposed to inward operation of the FB EK.

Good luck

Cable wipers

Post by Malcolm »

Thanks guys,

I'll go to the wreckers and have a scout around for something that has two speed wipers with a small as possible motor and see if I can fit that.
I still have room to move the air con. around a bit so if I can get something small enough I may still have a win. Problem with the air con unit is that I'm trying to get it up high so most of its out of sight.

No pickies as yet, but I have been taking progress photos of the A/C going in, so when its all done I'll post them then.

Cheers

Maybe look at wipers on the back of hatchbacks then, they'd be fairly compact although you'd then have 2 motors :?

The other thing that I had thought off is the wiper motors they use in hotrods. Just a small motor with a single shaft coming out of them, but I don't know if you can get them with a separate switch and in 2 speed.
