There was a thread once upon a time but I can't find it so I'd say it's been deleted between then and now.
Anyway, long story short: don't be a naive 18 year old and buy cars on eBay from Queensland sight-unseen.

you can only have so much stuff laying around storing it till somebody else decides they want one, i know i've offered stuff including seat for as little as free and no takers so i don't want it cause it's in my way so the scrapper gets it unfortunately

I've also offered seats for free and eventually thrown them out .

I did think there was a few more things on that wagon, like the rear end, wheels, roof chop etc but like Mick said how long do you keep that stuff until you find out no-one wants them and they get chucked anyway, Shelly just saved herself a few hour work .

I remember this car on the forum and on ebay. You really got dudded on it. They always seem better on the description than they are.
Dont think being nieve caught you out. Ive been restoring cars for years and ended up with some duds also.
Hopefully you get some money back on the parts.

In '06 I Saw a car on Trading post. A grey and white EK wagon. The photos were large clear pics and it looked pretty darn good.If not excellent!
I drove all the way to Ouyen in Northern Vic - 6 1/2 hours with stops.

I filled up a page of notes of issues of things that would be needed to get her up to a decent looking car.
Yeah sure - the bloke had resprayed it, in a lovely father-son project, but just about everything they took off -they broke!
Rivets in the stainless trim due to broken clips, both vent window levers broken, headliner silicone marked & ripped, painted over dents, bad surface rust on both bumpers needing rechroming!, bit of filler here & there although the body was not bad. Buggered the floor mats, rusty old exhaust. motor looked 1/2 worn out.

The upshot was the minimum they reckon they'd take was $7,500. The rationale was due to "That's what they're asking for them today, on the internet!" - I'm certain they got the original untouched car for under $1000 and were trying to make a buck or 6000.

I told the bloke I can really make this car look good, but to me - at best I would give him $3,500 cash as that is what I belived it was really worth. Nope - he belived he was going to get his 7.5k, so I left it with him. I wonder what he eventually sold it for?

that's down side of people advertising cars for $20 $30 $40 thousand other knuckle heads see that and think well mine is worth $x and won't budge the car is probly still there

Ahhh yes...the "old rusty wagon technique" been there done that!!
My first Sputzwagon was like that...looked great on the outside (after I painted it) but the rust was in spots you would'nt believe!!
If you opened the rear doors the rust would rain down on top of your head!!
