My Auntie rolled one of them years ago and I thought "Awesome ,another one bights the dust"

We then found her an earlier squarer model coupe - yeah she rolled that one too , same corner , same way home from the local

Not happy!!! :x

I've been trying to update this at work for the last 2 days and have no end of trouble.

Monday, I did it all between jobs, pressed the submit button and it had logged me out. Lost it all.

Retyped it all again yesterday, and was just making the final adjustments to the closing paragraph when my computer shat itself and froze. All I could do was to restart it.. Yep, once again lost it all.

I should be able to try again today. 3rd time lucky maybe

Gotta say, just like most Holden blokes I hate f&$ds and especially hate pommy heaps of crap f@&ds but these old cortina's have a great look and shape about them that secretly I have always admired! Nice lines, tight rear and when lowered with a set of nice wheels they look the ducks guts!! Keep the pics coming!
Cheers

Looking forward to the updates :D

Got back into watching Life on Mars last year when re-runs were showing... got the itch to get a 'tina and even got the stamp of approval form the missus (provided I sold my Commodore  )

The Commy went over 6 months ago, and I am still to redeem my 'good for one cortina' voucher. Lucky I have a big shed to hide it in when it finally comes around

Cheers,

Matt

Alright, here's to third time lucky!

So, progress has been happening on the white sedan, it has been at the painters for the last 13 months and I got a txt yesterday saying it should be ready next week :D

Here's some progress shots I took back in April. The original bonnet was shagged so a replacement had to be found. Not an easy task, let me tell you!

I had a think about it and did a bit of research and I found a few problems.

1. Life on mars car has a black vinyl roof, to get this done on this one, about $900, And I would need to find the chrome strips for the roof piller
2. L.o.m car is actually based on the later TD sedan not TC. Only major difference is the dash is completely different, but still.
3. L.o.m has the chrome trim around the windows, easily enough to find but to try and remove and then refit... waaaay too fidly

So, I needed: TD sedan, black vinyl roof, chrome around windows, 4cyl.

Where would I find such an animal? just around the corner it seems!

Picked this thing up for $200 from the wreckers and considering what it's been through it's in bloody good shape

First thing I wanted to do was try and get the vinyl roof back up as she was a tad dry. It took heaps of coats to get it back, in the end I put it on real thick, (nearly used a whole tube from memory) didn't rub it in and left it in the sun for a few days to melt into it. After that she was sweet! and kept up the gloss.

She is now back on four wheels and can be pushed around easily - thank god, it was a pain having to move it around with only 2 wheels

Image

That's where she is now, the project has been mothballed as I have a few other projects on thego I want to finish first... ie the fb sedan.

My first thought was too do an exact replica of the car, now I am thinking of doing somehing a bit different  Stay tuned!

Thanks for the responses guys, the Cortina, bar the infamous (read overrated  ) mk1 and mk2's definitley need more love! So many people don't give them the time of day, I'm trying to do my bit I have a shed full of spares and got up to 7 Cortinas at one point. I cut one up for rust repair sections as it had no rust and I am planning to sell another one as it's the later (squarer) TE model.

Brown bear... pull your finger out lol!

Santa came early this year!

The painter dropped it off last night. It took a little longer than expected, but overall I am very happy with it.

I love this car, even though this car has been off the road sitting around for years, you turn the key and it fires straight up and purrs like a kitten.

Good times ahead 8)

Still a bit to go putting it back together, giving it a full service then it has to go in for a id check as it came from Maroya in N.S.W

Merry Christmas :D

Geez, I remember the two cars I had with a vinyl roof I couldn't wait to rip the vinyl off.

On one though I had a quick look at state of the roof underneath and put the vinyl back on

Do you mean Moruya (as in South coast NSW??) If so it's amazing it's still in one piece!! It's situated right on the water & has a salt water river running right through it!!
(I know, as we used to race speedway there in the 1990's...good times  )

Hi Scotty, I'm pretty sure that's the same place. It was just the other side of Batemans bay, not too far from Bega. If I had more time I would've called in for some cheese  . As it was I was picking my mate up at 7:30am on Sat and arriving in Maroya at 2am. Same deal for the return, I was driving out the gate all loaded up at exactly 7:30 am and got home at 2am Monday. I had to work that day too, so I grabbed whatever sleep I could then got up, unloaded the car, returned the trailer and got into work at 8am. I didn't even think about the rust being so close to the coast. Oh well, doesn't matter now, I just hope it doesn't keep coming back.

Great work there Andrew

Wish I could pop round the corner and pick up a LOM spec cortina... have been looking on and off for nearly 4 years :(

Today I picked up one the right colour, black roof and with correct KJM-212K rego plates. Body is perfect, interior excellent but haven't managed to get it started yet... You will find it at your friendly local hobby store for less than $10. Thankyou to the Oxford Automobile Company

Keep the updates coming!

Andrew... Oi! A word, in your shell, like...

Any updates on on the time travelling Cortina?

I have a possible candidate down my way, but with bub number 3 due in June the "no Cortina" club has again vetoed the idea. I'll PM you the link, maybe you could write me letter of support :)

Hope alls well down your way
