Info wanted on airchief radios

Post by holdenutechick »

Hey guys just throwing this out there everywhere I can, I'm chasing information on the various different radios out there for the different models seeing as Harv hasn't done a guide on it and I'm chasing info for my FB and the FJ figure I'd throw something together for everyone's benefit I figure how hard can it be?

Dont know about FJs, but with FB/EKs, take your pick. There's the Nasco Air Chief, both push button and manual tune (the latter is more attractive than the former imho). Moreover, the faceplate on the manual tune differed between Standards and Specials, although to make it complex, Holden dealers sometimes weren't so discerning. Steve Jackson has an original Honey Beige FB Standard that has a dealer fitted Special Airchief in it. Then there's the AWA Presmatic, which looks better than either Airchief. There's also the very rare His Master's Voice radio, which apparently is the best quality. There are a couple of other brands too. SunnyTim is the radio guru - there's a thread he created on here somewhere with pics.
I remember many years ago (before eBay) wandering around swap meets and knocking back $20 Presmatics because they weren't Airchiefs... how times change.
