FB Special

Post by kiwifb »

Hey there everyone, Im sure you will have seen some of my posts on here asking questions re my build of the fb.
I orginially was going to paint it a FB colour I liked, but after serious consideration and getting to know my old girl a little better we have come to an amicable agreement that she will be repainted true to her tags. Which will make her Banff Blue / Grecian White I will post pics of the tags soon.

I spent 5 years looking around NZ for a body to no avail, so in the end we started looking over the ditch and we imported her from Australia, and she was in a very preloved condition! She was someones project that got a bit hard, but she was perfect for us!

Should have said in the last post that we had hand sanded 90% of the car before we decided to soda blast it

Next it was down to thames about 3 hrs from where we lived where a friend from the Early Holden Club lives - so he could do some paneling.

We thought the worst was done here but the back of the car took lots of fiddly work and it was the most expensive part!

No joy, with that or the seat skins / fleck material. We need a sunvisor by Christmas as thats when we hope to paint, and so worst case scenary would be to by a repoduction one, (Anyone have any thoughts / experiences with these?) but I'm hoping one "turns up" :D

It won't be ready for that as we are doing 80% of the work ourselves and it all takes time! But we have a 68 HK sedan that we are taking down, - you going to have your EK there?

If everything goes to schedule we should be there, doing the final block down at the moment. the next thing after paint is all the rubber replacement, hoping the forum might be able to recommend the best value rubber supplier .
