As the title says, I'm trying to find out what this car is? That good looking guy is my Dad who is no longer here and didn't pass on the info before he tragicly left us.

Hi Theo,
I knew it straight away. A '38 Dodge. The "rampant Ram" bonnet ornament is a giveaway. Dodge still use it.
i was in the Chrysler restorers club for years

Chers Paul,
Dad always spoke about a black Desoto, so this could be it!

Definately not Desoto.
Im a member of the national Desoto Club of the US . I know them - Desoto's had a differnet body to a Dodge it was the same as the Chrysler
It is Dodge - no question about it - check that link I sent you, mate.
Also check this link. Notice the engine cowls, winged Dodge Bros. Logo on the front, leaping Ram etc etc
Check this link if you need a second opinion

Chysler did make some odd Hybrids for overseas markets though ( Dodge fronts on Plymouth Bodies) but the front is all Dodge
Cheers

Was it a coupe?
I know that aussie models built in SA by T J Richards varied to the US cars so maybe it was a Desoto?Maybe not
