FB Holden Special Sedan CHL 061

Post by parisian62 »

Hi Everyone,

My FB Holden turned 50 today! :)

First registered on 17 April 1961 and delivered to Mr Fred King of Lithgow the next day.

Still with the original plates ,it has been in continuous registration for 50 years of which 21 years have been in my ownership.

Some birthday shots...

138525 miles on the clock. The body number is 36234S making it the highest body identified so far for FBs which makes it the 'youngest' FB...? :)

I will post up some more history of CHL 061 as I gather it together.

regards
Stewart

Thanks Harko, Peter and Steve.

Paul - well looked after is right - its always been garaged since the original owner. There has been some essential paint work done - like when I rear ended a bloke...

Stu,
The color of your car is very interesting.
I'd consider it 'very rare'. it is only the second FB I have seen in that color.

I used to work at Melbourne Airport in the 90's. The carpark was a magnet for rare cars that you never see at car shows and events. I suspect hermits would have to suddenly need to drive/pick up a relative from the airport.
Here's one the same color. I took this photo in '95. This car was uber-clean! I suspect the speedo which said 43,000 mles was all she'd done! I have never seen one the same color in Victoria since and never saw this car again!
I'd say by the rego, this Victorian FB is a late FB too!

Hence, when I saw your car at last years nationals, it was impressive.
Here's a pic or two on the Leeton Run!
Cheers,
Paul K

Such a beaut car, Stewart!

I have a soft spot for that colour scheme too :D I'm told it was more commonly found as a white car / brown flash scheme.

Hope it does another 50 years on rego!

Thanks for all the comments and birthday wishes guys...I'll pass them onto CHL 061... :)

Tim - I actually didnt get a drive in as we were down the coast till late...celebrating my other halfs birthday. My wife and the FB share the same birthday...so depending on which way you look at it I'll never miss rego or her birthday...

Paul - WOW! great pics...I would love a copy of one with the Wade Hotel in the background...would it be possibe to email it to me? It was a great day cruising Leeton with all those FB Eks around...the locals didn't know what had hit them  :D I don't think it was as popular a colour as the blues and green tones...In Sydney I know there is probably 1 or 2 kodiak brown/grecian white sedans getting as people will say I saw you the other day driving down blah street inthe FB...but it wasn't me....

Greg - is it just me but as you edge closer to 50 time seems to start going faster...?

Too right Matt! Hopefully 'Team Kodiak' will put on a good show at Sawtell. :D I only know of one grecian white / brown flash sedan owned by Chris Barsoun...
