Re: Floods
I've had the day off today, Looking after the kids. We went to my brother inlaws work shop and its been steam cleaned and electricity is back on. Mechanical services start Monday. Haven't been over to Marty's place yet, But the boys tell me that the work crews organised by work mates have been in with Bobcats and dump truck today and the back yard is like a brown bowling green. Most of the stuff under the house has been dumped, Still to pull out the wagon. The two XF's have been dragged to the front street and we're still waiting for a tilt tray to take them to the dump.
Its easy for me over here on the north side with no water anywhere. I feel for everyone that are still slugging away cleaning up. I'm hoping that I will be able to get to the southside this arvo to access whats needed for tomorrow.
Remember, I've only concerning myself to one house at the moment but as you get into the streets and see all the volenteers filing into suburbs it really lifts yours spirits.
Good luck everyone and if anyone has a tilttray, We could use it!
Cheers Theo Z..................

Re: Floods
We got power on Friday and the road in reopened
HUGE THANKKS to Ricard and Kate (R&K FB) who did a run around bakerys, grocery stores and of course the bottle shop to bring us supplies which we shared with all the neighbours
like everyone else we have been giving a hand and it is great to see the the generosity of people. These are the times that define us as human beings
I spoke to Tim last night he still has no power but has ice and beer so I think he might make it
We heard some tool from our suberb on the radio the other night complaining that he hadn't been notified they were going to turn his power off and becase of the mad rush at the shop before it went under was running out of food(his neibours must not like him) and he said our suburb had been abandoned
what a wanker
Hope everyone else is OK
Craig

Unbelievable, people have lost everything and these parasites are out there

Good to hear that things are back on track.

Re: Floods
Tim, it's amazing just how hard one of these low-lifes can run head on into a stationary cricket bat being moved from one room to another...... repeated a number of times......
If I am not mistaken, stationary cricket (or base-ball) bats are still legal possessions to own, store and carry around your property without a license.......perhaps not for much longer.......
It was not too long ago that we read signs "looters shot" - how we have evolved to social political correction, and are sadly prevented from protecting or defending our property from within our property....... in my opinion looters are second only to low-life rock-spiders who stalk our children - I cannot possibly state what I would have done to these subterranean maggots ........ looters wouldn't suffer for so long, but not by much......
I have digressed, but the thought of, and I use this word with great difficulty - persons seizing opportunity from those who are at the mercy of tragedy........
My absolute firm opinion is that anyone caught looting should not only be jailed for a minimum or mandatory period - but should also be photographed, named, located and the information populated repeatedly ......
Rosco! stop here...... it's an ugly picture being created in the minds of those who may draw discomfort.......
Although I absolutely detest the media - almost without exception, I acknowledge that a feint glimmer of future is resulting from the many wonderful people committed to "muck in"...... from all walks of social standing - such is the spirit of what our great country and its people have risen to in difficult and tragic events.......
To everyone suffering the reality and gravity of this disaster - my most heart-felt sympathies...... I cannot begin to appreciate what you poor souls are going through.....
Material possessions become insignificant when loss of life occurs........ tragic, yes - but thus far I am comforted to learn that we have not lost any forum members or their families..... I am ever grateful for this.....
Please keep this forum informed of events as they become apparent.......
Although we cannot possibly sympathise by way of association, I can assure those in need that we very much suffer greatly from what we have witnessed.........
frats,
Rosco

Re: Floods
Man Have been home for about two hours. We slammed heaps of it today. Emptied out under the house, opened the back shed to find everything had floated up and come down on top of the motor bike. Shit everywhere. Tilt tray showed up after one towy wanting $275 per car to take them away, What a bloody thief! Wreckers were only to happy to take them for FREE!!
Man, My mate pete tells me, Dave(VMX I think) turned up to help ten minutes after I left. Good on ya Dave for travelling up to SUNNY to lend a hand!
I went over on my Knee at about 1.30pm and the Army medic told me to go home, I did leave about an hour later.
Lots of people will be going back to work tomorrow and the volenteers won't be around during the week, So remember that live goes back to normal for those few unaffected, But the people that have lost everything have a long road to normality.
Well done everyone!
Craig I beat you to the geni for Tim cause I was around the corner when I got the call lol
Trev, Yes that was where the water stayed and disappeared as fast as it arrived. OH! I feel useless at the moment too, I can't even pick up my baby girl for a hug.
Cheers Theo Z.....................

I have been away for a week and have barely caught up with any news at all.
This is terrible to read, but I glad to hear you have at least not suffered like so many others.
All the best guys.

,nothing to worry about compared to you guys along the river, everything in my tinnie was safe
,it was all flash flooding up around our area so it was gone in 48hrs.Ime sorry to hear you need to keep shewing looters out of your street Timbo.Keep safe, take care and remember,Queenslanders never give up!!
