planed to get away early on sunday morn for the show n shine, but i didnt get on the road till 11:30am ish.
i got some directions from a lady at a servo who put a extra 100ks on the trip
by the time i got to narrandra it was on dark and nobody was around :(
i chucked a few laps of the main, and headed off :|
all was good on the way home till i got to junee and there was no servos open  , i tryed gettin help from a fellow fb ek'er in a blue/white pannelvan but they didnt stop, got a couple of liters from an old guy and pushed on to cootamundra.

If your FB is a daily and you are doing alot of highway miles, then a red motor and a 3.08 diff is the better option.

its not a daily but i do like to use it a couple times a week. i just bought a vn v6 motor with loom, g/box and every thing for the conversion.....but im gonna use the grey for a while.

i think if you go to the trouble of modifying the floor, change the crossmember, up grade the brakes and get it all enginered for a red 186,202 etc i may as well use a injected v6. i only chose vn over vr/vs engine because vn has a tin sump rather than aluminium.

I just noticed Ratbox was banned again, its a pitty because he has allways helped me out with bits and peices, big thanx to you Ratbox, without your help my car would be missing bits :D

Have you changed the diff center?? As mine will sit on 100k's all day without a sweat! Plus the electronic ignition make it a bit more grunty down low, so it leaves the line rather well (for a Grey) and it has a 3.36 diff center in it. I'm as happy as mud. 8)

Like sputz, I had a stock grey with a 3.36 diff. Was much better on the highway than the stock diff, except for the hills. A bit sluggish off the mark too. But it could be a good fix until you put in the V6.

Had a small mishap that turned into a large one

being so low i touched a speed hump with the underside of the ol girl, lowest part is the gear shifter, the speed hump bent the shit out of it, only had reverse and second  limped it home in 2nd, 30k trip in second gear not good

bout 5ks from home i noticed strong smell of exhaust fumes, thought id stop and check, the speed hump had wedged the tailpipe up behind the rear bar, the heat had melted the paint off the rear pannel and boot   it was like a couple of big bubbles under the paint, the heat also melted my mooneyes number plate lights

the rear pannel was in bad shape, i had to use bog on the last repair because i couldnt get it dead straight, all the bog had lifted and curled.

so bugger it, ill cut it up and make a new one

Image

heres a piece of hq door skin that i had to bend/hammer/cut/bash for a couple of hours

Image

then i had to add the hole from the original piece for the filler neck, i was going the leave it filled but then id have to change fuel tank, new filler door/flap etc etc, its become my daily so its gotta be repaired for monday. so standard will do

Image

All welded in :D

Image

ground and ready for filler and paint :D

Image

Not bad for a days work 8)
