But you and your family are alright which is more important. Things can be rebuilt just a shame so much though. Unfortunately now its up to the insurance companies.
Good luck rebuilding, way better of course
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
thanks for all the support guys, and yeah your right the main thing is that we are all fine .... but for me the car stuff is my life and its like its all getting destroyed infront of me and theres nothing i can do about it ....
very heartbreaking .... but i'll be back and it will be bigger and better than ever ... might just need new sills
I'm glad you and your family are all ok. I've never been in your position and can only say how sorry I am to hear your news. As others have said you can replace contents & belongings but you can't replace your family.
Im sure you will be able to replace the things you have lost, I wish I was closer to be able to offer you some assistance.
Best wishes to you and your family and hopefully everything works out OK in the end.
Sorry to here the news, glad you and your families all right though thats the main thing. We know how tough it is when disaster strikes.
I knew a few fellas that lost everything(homes, workshops, animals, historic cars) all in the fires we had down here a couple of years ago when it ripped through Husky and St Georges Basin.
We think ourselves lucky when it dosn't happen to us, but hits hard when you know of the people or persons it's happened to.
Good luck with the clean up and all the best with the project.
Regards John
Dont let the mud and crud beat you the old girl will clean up fine with a good rinse body wise! If you can get to the engines quick you will save them as well.
Unfortunatly the man upstairs does things like this to test your resiliance
some give up and some move on to bigger and better things.
we are getting there slowly, cars are running and alot of stuff is coming up better than it first looked so yeah, im happy in a way, just alot of hard work to get everything sorted.
i've been madly pulling computers apart and the like to get them all aired out for the cars etc and things are looking good on the engine front, looks like only minimal losses there .....
we'll be right, just gonna be alot of time to sort it all out!
well im pleased to say that i have finally finished all the salvage work on the car, its now water free in all the running gear and it looks like everything is still in good working order (except for the engine thats in pieces - nothing a new gasket kit can't fix).
so im alot happier now knowing that i don't need to start from scratch.
probably wont be alot of updates from me for a while now ... need to find a place to rent and get the shed all setup so then i can start work on it again!
well i have some good news .... last saturday i moved the FB to my brothers place to put it in his shed till i can find a place ... so hopefully in the next few weeks i will be able to get it apart and make sure everything is water free, then i will be able to take up where i left off and keep working on it (albiet a bit slower at my brothers place) so things are getting better slowly!
on a slightly side note i got payed out from my VR commodore that was a write off so im using that money to get my torana back on the road for a second car ... it should be nice when its done lots to keep me bussy though!
engine and gearbox removed ... engine has been stripped and put into engine shop for honing of the bores, linish the crank, new rings and bearings, full gasket kit and new timing set then i will be able to put it back together!! (first v6 rebuild - looking forward to that!)
only issue found was one of the conrods is like a banana ... somehow it didn't effect the engine as the thing was running fine before the floods so yeah bit strange but all good in the end, got another rod and shes all go ... now i just have to find where i put the roller lifters and i can start the rebuild ... i'll be sure to put some pics up as it goes along!
gearbox has about half a cup of water in it so hopefully it only stayed in the bottom of the pan and hasn't hurt anything ... i'll be putting new filter and pan gasket on it so i'll be able to have a look around when i get it off ....
its unreal to finally have the time to get back into this car!!
Good to hear you back into the ute. Hopefully things go along smoothly for you now. You will have to have it ready for the Nationals next year at Yamba. Thats what I have my sights set on.
