Done a few rocker cover gaskets before not brain surgery but lately have had to do 2 in less then a couple of months and finding everyone has a different way of doing it.
Normally i use cork gasket just give it a light paint and then silicone to bind it to the rocker cover line it up bolt it down. Normally i dont use large wingnuts to tension the cover down but have them now do them up finger tight and im finished.
keeps leaking..... some people have said maybe a little more then fingertight some say no silicone or lots of silcone so just asking advice from anyone else?
cheers

Re: rocker cover gasket
Cork gasket coated with grease, do up like you would with a spark plug and it should be sweet.

Re: rocker cover gasket
replaced again today no luck.... oil is coming from the same spot every time the front off the head.
Re: rocker cover gasket
What type of cover are you using?
A cast one might be warped or standard one bent?

Re: rocker cover gasket
have used a couple different ones now onto my third... but i have spent alot of time looking at the head this arvo and where the oil is coming from there seems to be a little dip is the oil wall.
Smooth everywhere else except the front off the head lookslike its worn down the slightest from something.
