G'day UTEK,
Don't be embarrassed to ask questions here - everyone has to start somewhere, and even the experts learn something as they go (that's probably what makes them experts
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
). Anyone who thinks they know it all is in for some hard falls.
As Trev and Ratbox have pointed out, chances are your "3 on the tree" is the original 3-speed manual. They often get called "crash boxes" or "crunch boxes" because they don't have syncro on first (try putting it back from 2nd to 1st with the car moving and you get a wonderful crunching sound
![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)
as the gears try to engage at different speeds... not good for the life of the box). Some expressions you will now get to use:
a) if you can't find 'em, grind 'em.
b) if you got teeth you have to clean 'em.
c) like a true prizefighter, it spat out a few teeth and kept going (from one of Thommo's recent posts... love it
