Can doors be adjusted so that they don't need to be slammed?

Post by (AUST)Mod »

As above.

I have had to slam my drivers door (and others) shut for as long as I can remember.

Can the lock/latch mechanism be adjusted to facilitate easier closing??

Or are my locks just worn out?

Thanks

Andrew

Do you have newish rubbers around the door Andrew???

Yes they can Andrew

Its the latch thats bolted to the body that needs adjusting.
Just adjust it out a little.

Have a look at the link to Jaymans Pano Tailgate to see about adjusting to the correct spot.

You obviously want to achieve an easy close with no leaks.
With a door you have inner and outer seals, you may have to use the paper from
the out side aswell as the inside to test each seal in the one spot.

Dave, I have the same problem as Andrew, and my rubbers are 'newish'...
I dont want to adjust the latch out much further as it will bugger up the door alignment and look shite.
Any gems of wisdom to share??
(I'm assuming you blokes dont mind helping out an FC driver :? )
thanks

My rubbers are old. I have had the car for close to 4 years now and they have not changed in that time.

I think moving the latches is the answer - will give it a go.

Thanks guys,

Andrew
