I've added three more photo's to the 'how to' on the last page...I noted I did'nt explain the use for the tracing paper  so I've fixed that part up and now I've got better shots of the glittery flake too 8) .

Painted flash line 'HOW TO" part 2.0...
In this bit we attack the 'chrome strips' and mask up all the laced inner & in fine line tape the outside of the strips..I've opted for 1" upper strip & 1/2" lower ..I always thought that the last version had an over-thick lower strip size..
Image
Image
( a note here..I pulled the lower of the flash at a more 'rounded back' shape this time around also )

Once I was happy with the gap sizing between the tape it was just make a rounded to sharp shape on ends of the strips ..did this with masking tape only on the smaller strip with a stencil knife. Then paper the whole area off ready for paint...

Next was to mix a nice micro metallic silver and paint it on...
Image
Image
.. now I'm leaving the silver to dry for about two hours and next add the detail in air brush...

stay tuned....

Scotty.

How To part 2.1....after the silver is hard get the 1/4" fine line tape and follow the top half of the strips along and mask the top half off as well...
I then mix a metallic charcoal colour (out of silver & black)...
Image
Please forgive the state of my airbrush..I've had & used it for 30 years!!

...and airbrush the line just below the tape at about a 10mm fan at 10cm's away.
Image

Once this is done I reverse the tape and do a soft pearl white/silver mix above the dark line for top shine..then that's it...un-mask and she's ready for the clear...
Image
Image
(note: these photos don't give the complete look as this does'nt show up until it's had clear over the top..typical airbrush job..they all look average until the clear is applied  )

8) 8) 8) Scotty.

You've got talent Scotty. When I first saw the standard at Forbes and I would have sworn the silver was real stainless moulding. 8)
