About 5 mins in to meeting Rob last Saturday.. i found out the wreck at Neils that i've seen a few times was infact THIS car.. Ahh.. No front end / subframe left on it.. and Neil wouldn't let me buy the doors.
Real pity but unless Rob grafts a roof off another EK (And after seein some of the stuff hes capable of.. both here and at his place.. no doubt it wouldn't be hard for him.. The car will remain at Neils.
Apparently it went up there.. and a Gum tree fell on top of it. Although its been moved around a few times.. shit gets moved around up there and i really have no idea how.. between Robs car and a few others.. they get shifted.. but still appear as if they've been in the same spot for years.

Nick.
Just found this detail pic of the fender skirt scoop, when the car was bergundy. Its amazing how many people thought they were air intakes for a rear engine, especially after a bit of encouragement from me.
My favorite question was "how do you change a flat tyre"? My favorite answer to this was, that the tyres were solid rubber and when the tread wore out I had this grid that plugged in with an old jug chord (you know the ones) and when it heated up you just drove the car over it & presto, instant tread. (This was a nasco part of course).

Then came that fatefull day, a day just the same as every other day, driving to work, OH SH......... a 4x4 ute with bullbar came through a give way at full noise then turned right at me.
Ive never been able to work out a morons thought process, you know the ones, they see you in your car & just have to put on a display of wheel spinning heroism, (they are usually "no necks in commodors") or the ones that have to overtake you at all costs then to stop & make a right hand turn.
Well this moron left me a shattered mess in the middle of the road. He even had the hide to have the same birth date as me.
I can remember turning off the ignition and opening the passenger door because someone was coming to help (god bless him) & thought they may have a problem with the shaved handles. I was calm & shock had set in, there was no pain.

How I had gotten out of this so lightly I will never know.
I had smashed my right forearm, broke some teeth (the dentist had actually used me to show some students what facial injuries were like before seatbelts), opened up & dislocated my left knee, twisted an ankle & the occasional gash here n there.
After 8 weeks I was able to see the wreck. Dad had taken it to their place from the holding yard. What a mess. Its amazing how much damage the human body can take & do. Just two weeks prior to the smash I had removed one of those chrome bullets that was in place hf the horn button. The steering colum was z'ed, the engine had split the floor, the A pillars were twisted in opposite directions and am amazed the screen didn't break. The odometer had fallen out, which was quiet amusing when the Police inspecting the crash said they couldnt read my speedo reading & when did I last look at my speedo? " This morning when my face was pressed up against it" was my reply. The seat had also broken its mount.

I had thought about fixing it, getting a donor car and cutting it through the A pillars & through the floor at the B pillars, but no, I had taken the hint, the one the universe has to pick you up & shake you with untill you get it.
I rang my friend in Ipswich to see if he wanted the remains, he took it to Neils farm to have the cut n shut done and the rest is history.
Oh by the way, the moron that hit me was uninsured and had no license, boom boom.
PS I was very happy to discover that none of my welds broke.

i get those peanuts that have to be in front of "the old car" at all costs all the time
last one was while driving to sydney a couple of weeks ago, he was doing 85 in a 100 zone i was doing 105, first chance passed him stayed on my 105-108 then notice him on the charge to catch me, finally he catches me breaks his neck to get round me and then surprise surprise he slows back to 90

Thanks.
No it was never insured, though third party paid well, but I had to wait & play the game. Its where they offer you a really crap amount, knowing that you are desperate for the cash, and you keep knocking back their offers till its just about to go to court. They usually come good then. If you can live through the hunger pangs its worth it.
I've often thought of gettin it back and fixing it but no. I think its happy there.
Mind you Im pumped about FBEK's again after being on the forum,so who knows, Ive always liked the wagon delivery thing. After I've finnished my other project perhaps.
Heres a better pic of those hubcaps, this car was the wifes car in those comparison pics earlier. Will do a story on that car and a build of the bike as well, plus pics of other projects soon.
