Subframe and dash colours

Post by Blacky »

Can someone tell me the paint codes for the dark grey that the front subframes were painted in ? I have never restored a car before - all the other ones have been modified - I also need the colour that the dash is painted which is kinda like the subframe grey.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

yeah I'll back Trev on the subframe.
I was led to believe the dash & steering colum was Dartford grey semi gloss - a very dark grey almost black - but stand corrected.
I did mine in black gloss (had some left over) & added flatner untill I was happy with it, did same with steering colum.
Cheers Nick

The subframe may be black but it is not glossy , the dash is definately a grey of some description - will have a look at Dartford grey in the colour book if its in there , thanks Nick.

Back in those days & knowing Holden they probably used all the different blacks mixed together & that was the subframe the colour - like the grey used for the motor.
Chassis black maybe close - but wouldn't use that as there's no guts to it.
Could try the FE-FC Hoden site there are some very knowlegable guru's there.

Cheers Nick
(use semi gloss & leave in the Kalgoorlie sun for a week - that'll knock the gloss off) LOL
