Gday Mozza

An electrical curcuit is like a loop
From the battery, through the switch, to the light, and down to earth, which is connected back to the battery.
Somewhere in this loop, the curcuit is being broken.
This can happen with a loose connection,(headlight switch - dimmer switch - junction connection on inner gaurd etc) or
A corroded connection,(usually the earth wire from the light)

Check connections are tight and wires are not corroded in the connections.
Check the earth wire where it screws back on to the body, that its clean metal to metal(No corrosion)
Also check that no wires have the insulation missing, this will allow current
to return straight back to earth, therefore by-passing your lights(Short curcuit)

I hope this helps, good luck :)

Hey MOZZA,
Check and clean the thermal circuit breaker on the headlight switch and it should fix the problem. All the specs for adjustment are in the Holden Workshop Manual. If you have higher wattage globes fitted you may have to fit a relay.
Cheers Chris.

This happened to me about 3 years ago on the way up to the Nowra nationals , the people in our convoy of about 11 cars kept thinking I wanted them to pull over     .
I did what roto said and had a relay fitted, problem gone :D ,

I've had similar but in my old fairlane, turned out the dipswitch had fallen apart and was being held in place by the carpet!

Basically just work through everything mentioned above, I'm sure you'll find it........eventually.
