Is it just my imagination, or has that red motor manifold been marinised? Looks like a huge angle on the flange face, but could just be the photo.

Blue Six induction

Harv,
You got me thinking before my morning coffee which is no mean feat. So that’s what is meant by maranising. I measured the Cain, Varajet and stromburger manifolds. They are all pitched 30mm from no 6 to no 1 Port, so no.

Now, coffee!
Cheers
Clay

Cool. I've got a couple of red motor manifolds here, but never noticed the amount of slant before.

Marinising does a heap more stuff too - Dave explained it to me back here:

Now I see my carb is missing the choke mechanism including butterfly and spindle. ImageThey came out with electric choke I believe. Suits me to rig up a manual set up so I really just need a spindle, 4” or 102mm by 1/4” or 6.35mm. I can rig up fast idle, rods and levers from bits and pieces. Otherwise if anyone has an unwanted Holley choke mechanism lying around.......

While you're at it grab a 2" spacer for under the carb. Plenty of space under the bonnet, my old EK use ran an edelbrock 500 vac secondaries on a 2" spacer with about a 4" air filter. Boy did it run good!
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Cheers DR. Bloke has two square bores going cheap on gumtree so I’ll prolly grab them for the choke mechanisms.

Took Devilrod’s advice. Purchased a phenolic spacer to insulate the carb from manifold.

Lucky score, this double pumper has manual choke.Image

Wouldn’t you know the shaft on the double pumper is 5/16” while the 390 is 1/4”. ImageThe rest looks to fit including the butterfly so maybe I’ll drill it out.

So drilled out progressively to 21/64”. Seems snug.ImageThe butterfly is an interference fit rather than screws. A bit fiddly to get out.Imageeasy to get in and self centres.ImageThe lever and fast idle mechanism is a bit fiddly.ImageJob done.
