ball joints removal help

ipg
thanks guys
to let you know i broke the mallet and bent the hammer whacking it on the ball joint remover
just quietly i think repco ripped me off @ 60 bucks for the remover tool <-but then again i dont get a trade discount
anyway so what i did is rig up one side of the cross member with the upper and lower arms and stub with the spring in it cos i thought the spring would add some pressure...but it didnt do squat.
then i jammed the remover tool inthe gap so it was sticking out parallel with the disc brake stub. i picked up the whole cross member and drove it into the ground as hard as i could <---this worked
YAY
put the stub on the new cross member and fitted up the front r&p
will have some piccies soon as i could only find one of this setup but that was on fefcholden.org.au

yeah springs will never work, they will usually act as a shock absorber and cussion the impact.
i've always had good luck supporting the bottom control arm on a axle stand then flogging the crap out of the ball joint shaft with a hammer, as its being replaced it doesn't matter what the hammer does to it
