It's about time I had a crack at trying to post a photo (I would also like to thank my 10 year old daughter for her help ).This is my old wagon which I paid $600 for in 1984 .I bought it off an Aussie couple who had toured the south island and had slept in the back, hence the black curtains (and probably the sagged rear springs ). The neibours nicknamed it "Sex & Violence ". I still own this car which is under a long resto.G]
Time for an update, Not long after buying the wagon, the gear box went "pop "so decided to pull the motor as well to replace gaskets and seals.I also decided to get the guards panelled and new sills as well by one of our largest beaters in town. It was then that I found some large holes in the fire wall which I repaired myself.
I decided to start stripping for some more panel and paint. While laying underneath,I noticed three thicknesses of metal at the bottom of the sills,
1.- The inner sill
2.- The outer sill
3.- ?????
I then decided to bring out my mate - grinder and cut off disc. And
this is what I found.
The photos here are from 1990.What really pi#@*d me off is that I had cut sills out of a good parts car to have put on. The panel beater said that it would be "only putting trouble back into trouble " and that it wasn't a problem to fold up a new pair. When I went back to try and get a refund of some sort he said "That this was a perfect job done by todays standards" When I told him that if it was, he didn't mind me showing these photo's around town. He then started back pedaling and said that if I needed a hand to fit door skins , etc he would be willing to help me. I then told him a few naughty words and left.
