my latest mistake

Post by Mick »

everybody probably saw it on facebook it got the better of me and i bought it, BUT it is a real good body, front left guard is not original but has never had a repair and the rest of the van that i can see has never had a rust or damage repair and only needs very minor repairs now, the rivet counters are going to hate it because unless i find someone to give me my money back the floor hump is going in place of one big enough to fit a decent gearbox and most likely R&P steering and dual circuit brakes and of course a red 6

yeah it was had long oval windows at some point, on the left side it's been panel glued, i'm in 2 minds as i don't mind side windows especially when it's one long window whether to leave them or put windows back in, i'm leaning towards leaving them

i actually tried my hardest not to buy it, it was on a few pages and marketplace on facebook, the day i bought it i was just about to book a flight to Sydney to buy a chev pickup (on second thoughts i wish i booked that flight) when i got a text from the guy i use to transport cars asking did i want that van picked up and spur of the moment i said yes and then paid for the van
like most things now i have it i don't particularly want it

it really is, it's far to good for me  inside appears to be all original paint and in fairly good condition and outside i have no idea why they stripped the paint but there's been no repairs for rust or damage and only appears the only odd panel is the left front guard and that even seems to be extraordinarily good, it does need a couple of very minor rust repairs

That should keep you busy Mick. Does it have a motor/ gearbox? What driveline are you thinking?

Interested in seeing how this one unfolds.

Stephen

don't want to get involved with engineers so won't be anything crazy try and keep it simple but try fly under the radar a bit 149 red, if i cut the floor just a trimatic though i don't particularly want to cut the floor (can't believe i just typed that) so would like a red crash box with EJ/EH column and have 3 speed column change, disc front and get it as low as i can and a rough coat of the original wedgewood blue

I fitted 179 and all synchro in my ute without cutting the floor, well hardly, apart from massaging for the side cover and reshaping the inspection cover. It did require converting the column shift. That was after blowing up the crashie at Balina. I think you would remember that. Having said, crashbox will do the job behind the 149 no problem.
