It is a circular metal disc Phil. Possibly a coin but could be from factory. These are available new without choke.

Apparently there is a fibre sheet piece which sits there and slides as the rod moves, limiting unfiltered air ingress.

Glad it tapped out.

Invest the 10c in a little piece of gasket sheet

I dripped a bit of solvent in the hole and pulled them out with my teeny multi grips. Made a plate from 1mm ally.Image

Thanks for the kind offer Phil. Choke is installed and appears to be working well, although the temperature here is in the low thirties today anyway. Harv kindly supplied all the necessary parts, though I had to straighten the lever arm which was offset to the sheath mount. The arm is possibly meant for use with the sheath mount that hangs off the side of the dash pot thingy that this carb doesn’t have.

I still need to have another look underneath and make sure everything is kosher for the wallopers in January, as well as check the toe in and re-centre the steering wheel after my previous shenanigans taking the drag link off. Too hot to do any more today, for a man of leisure such as myself anyway.

And I ran over my tesbump again at moderate pace, and the exhaust didn’t hit. I still had my trolley jack in the boot last time so it may have been the handle hitting inside the boot.

A man of leisure, welcome to the club.
More tinkering time me thinks.

The tinkering has to compete with surfing while I am still able, as well as the multitude of house and garden projects neglected over the last 15 years, Brian.

Good to see you tinkering away at her Clay, something I didn’t have time to do.
What did you do to the handbrake cable? Too many handbrake turns I think 🤔.

One side of the T-handle has been bent back Trevor. It was probably done by an over zealous CEVA bod. I have plenty of spares so not a worry. I can’t help myself with the tinkering and obviously I enjoy posting about it as much as the process and outcome. I’m enjoying a lot of compliments thanks to the over all presentation. Elle even said she wants to drive it again.

Wouldn't think Elle should drive it till it's roadworthy/ registered :ewink: :ewink:

Pitman arm worked loose again. I re-tensioned it to 100’lb. See what happens. Could be mum or dad or both are flogged?

Replaced yellow cog with red for the taller tyres. Image
I ran a tank of 91 and noticed mild pinging. Now trying 95 and seems good. Economy over three tanks is averaging 19mpg. Prolly wont drive it to Temora unless I improve on that a bit. Can’t let Richard get better economy than me driving over. Image I always blitz him with the short stroke red in the ute.
