Ok Joe, I am intrigued? How the bloody hell are you going to fit that bench seat in the ute?
Now what's the story with the wheels? The ute fanciers on here have been patiently waiting for the updated pics of your final combo of: hub caps / no caps & dress rings / or something else?

Haha, well that 'bench' also came with two matching armchairs. Maybe I can think about a floor shift situation?...In the Shed wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 10:50 pm Ok Joe, I am intrigued? How the bloody hell are you going to fit that bench seat in the ute?

Wheels: basically I never got around to polishing up a good set of hubcaps and the stack of dress rings I discovered in my parts stash all appear to be 14". So he's just rat-rodding about the place with standard issue 13' steelies, painted black, wrapped in Maxxis white band tyres.

Re: Leroy the EK Ute
Hello forumers
This rather amazing little nugget dropped in my lap this week: Leroy circa 1989 with owner Bill, back when he was black with a metallic blue roof!
It’s from the inside sleeve of a new retrospective CD by the Wasted Ones, as you can see. Jodie dropped it over when she visited my new digs.
Speaking of which, the Ute has been hard at work this last month, moving into my new shed which doubles as a workshop and music studio and sometime venue... Am now poorer than ever but happier than a pig in shit!!
Hasn’t missed a beat and the motor is feeling up nicely. What a great little workhorse!

Joe,
A guitar/string bass/drums three-piece sounds quite rockabilly to me . . .
Any idea as to the location of the '89 photo?

Re: Leroy the EK Ute
Hi Rob,
Jodie tells me it was in Newcastle, shortly before the quake. Bill made the move to Sydney shortly after, as the artists studio/warehouse he was living in got condemned!
Theres a few clips of Johny Gretsch's Wasted Ones on Youtube, I think the cd's are available here

Looks like the ultimate batch’ pad Joe. Nice piccie. I do love a bit of urban cowboy psycho-billy swing action. Good to hear Leroy is giving good service.

Joe,
A little work with Wikipedia and Google later . . . the "genre" I was thinking of is psychobilly.
I was trying to remember the names of some pub acts I saw in the '80s. "Poor old Injun Joe, took on the fist of God" was all I could remember, so I Googled it. The Johnnys. And I think I saw the Beasts of Bourbon; and I remember the Beefs as the support act for the Emmanuel Brothers.

Thanks mate Best bit is three phase power at the workshop end. When finances recover, I’m on the lookout for a two post hoist...Errol62 wrote:Looks like the ultimate batch’ pad Joe. Nice piccie. I do love a bit of urban cowboy psycho-billy swing action. Good to hear Leroy is giving good service.

Re: Leroy the EK Ute
I can still smell the gunpowder and hay after seeing The Johnny’s, complete with exploding hay bales, at the Annandale round the turn of the millennium. Cow Punk they called themselves haha... There was a bar fridge on stage, and I recall (the recently passed, RIP) Spencer P Jones using his amp stack to stay upright by the end of the setardiesse wrote:Joe,
