The motor in the ute has been crook for 12 months or more Trev, this has just accelerated the rehab program
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Block has been stripped , oil galleries cleaned up and dedagged , honed up nicely which is pretty amazing seeing as its stock bore - now need to find a set of stock rings for it

Both head and block modified to suit a Harv special gasket as well as- found out the stock holes aren’t central to the hole in the gasket so used a die grinder rather than a drill to enlarge them.
The whole lot will go in the robowash tomorrow then hopefully back together on Tuesday night

New engine going together- crank is in after much fettling and bad language- my mate who is the brains of the outfit is a Frod guy and he is NOT a fan of rope seals - and he made me VERY aware of that ImageImageImageImage

Good stuff Blacky,

I still have that burning oil smell in my nostrils after the Nats! The funny part was when you overtook in front of me and Mr plod was coming the other direction, engulfed in plume of smoke, didn't even flinch !!!

Could you not modify and replace the rope oil seal ? There was talk on Mercedes or something like that ?

This motor has the Mercedes seal in it - had it soaking in oil for probably 3 months but it was still as hard as goats knees ….
