Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
Went to adjust the headlights on the Ute but the adjusting screws were rusted and snapped. Made up a fix by turning up some brass threads to tap out to 5/32” UNF screws. I couldn’t find 3/16” so these should do.
Cleaned up the headlight bucket, then soldered both sides, ran a round file through the hole so the brass was a neat fit. Pushed it through then soldered them into place with silver solder, they won’t go anywhere.

Cleaned up and soldered in both sides. Can now adjust the headlights (aka high powered candles ) from spotting possums in the trees to back on the road.

Happy New Yesr All
Made up a rear rack and recycled an old roof rack so I can carry long loads. Put the old heap to work picking up some 3.0m sheets of timber and some insulation for the shed. Then back out to pick up a heap of steel brown built shelving. Daughter reckoned it rode better with a load of steel in the back
Well used and occasionally abused

Re: Another EK Ute on SA Roads
Have brought the Ute up to modern specs by fitting an Apple CarPlay screen. The screen mirrors my iPhone so I can make/receive calls on the go, use maps, have messages announced, play music (via Bluetooth speaker, on dash) etc. The screen also has an in built forward camera that writes to the inbuilt SD card. There is a rear camera (also records) that doubles as a reversing camera.
As I don’t have reversing lights there is no auto activation of the reversing camera so I’m just using the rear camera for recording. It’s mounted inside the rear window. The screen is approx 9” and I’m very happy with the whole kit, was good value overall.
