Something different take two

These are some pics of the body repairs.

I made the big mistake by fitting left and right sill panels and left hand top guard rust replacement sections supplied from the biggest old parts supplier. The sills didn' come close to fitting without extensive reshaping and the guard repair section had to be hit flat and reswaged, a lot of wasted time was created by fitting these panels. So I made the right guard repair sections myself.

John, can you come over to my place to play?....bring your tools....I HAVE BEER!!

You've gotta be a sheet metal worker/panel beater or other allied tradesmen surely......that metal work you've done looks brilliant!!

Thanks for the photos and keep them coming......it gives me some insiration to get off me bum and do something with mine.

Oh and Westy, yes the strut towers were an option on the factory order but only available in the FB GTS version. They didn't offer them on the EK GTS but it is rumored there were a few left over from FB GTS production and that they made their way into a couple of EK GTS's  .

Lets see how this rumour goes??........bit like the "HP" red motor blocks which everybody knows means "High Performance"

Terry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

It was the only option for me. Plus I wanted something that in years to come I can still source bits for, which now is a direct bolt up.
I'm not to fond of modified shorten racks, that they supply in kit form, you just can't expect a banana style front crossmember to accomodate such a set up and still handle correctly. ie: bump steer and toe out on turn issues.

Were abouts are you located, cause the beer sounds really good.

I'm a Mechanic with my own workshop, I did panel beating at the same time I did my motor mechanics apprenticeship in the early80's but failed to complete my last year of beaters certificate due to the Panel Shop closing down, I used to come home from work as a spanner then go to work as a beater, the shop used run 20hrs a day.

Thanks for the photos and keep them coming......it gives me some insiration to get off me bum and do something with mine.

Sorry Terry, the EK GTS came out with the 4 link IRS on the rear as the old racer version, but they only had drum brakes on the rear with slotted rotors up front. They also had the pedal box mounted down low, but deleted that option because everyone who purchased that model kept triggering the dipper switch.

Lets see how this rumour goes??........bit like the "HP" red motor blocks which everybody knows means "High Performance"
