I used a XH Falcon ute tank- same reasons as why Firekraka listed.
Only small issue it sits higher than the original floor height. ok if you cover it with a false floor

I remember a few years ago there was a guy in Geelong that would retro fit an electric motor into your small car for around 15k. worth every cent if you did big kms.

Only thing I can think of is welding any part of the steering is normally a no go with the authority's.....
I assume the housing is included with this regulation.
