Re: Neil's FB Station Wagon

Neil, I would just fill the tank with molasses 1 : water 10. Leave a week and rinse. I haven’t done this myself. You’d have an account at the local fodder store, I reckon. Otherwise a kilogram of citric crystal and fill her up.

Re: Ek auto dial for on the colum

Hey Labrat,
The dial came in the mail yesterday. Thank you very much. I will pass it on to my mate. It is for his wagon.
Cheers,
Clay

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

Definitely need the spacers. No more clunking. No vibrations. Definitely tracks better at 100kmh now. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250115/828f272eb189ae3eb3ad1e298f049249.jpg
Sits nicer too. Slight rubbing inside passenger rear wheel on articulated right turns. Driver side less so. Just ...

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

I machined out the locating hole in the rubber a bit and swapped them to above the blocks. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250114/c1f259be102712a420c9d5e2deb3f65a.jpg
Quick test drive, clunking on shifting up and down between first and second had returned. Time for another look underneath and ...

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

Thanks. I did wonder about that. It would explain the clunking and eliminate the need for the spacers. My concern was that the top of the block won’t locate in the rubber. Tomorrow is another day.

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

No way I can see the current sway bar working with the lowering blocks.

Went for a cautious run and could hear some serious clunking sounds when powering on and off. Back on stands and I can’t pick anything obvious. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250114/d449b91540f82cd95630027ed3098ec6.jpg

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

Got the blocks in today. I had to take the bar off as it was fouling the bottom of the shocks. I will have a play in the morning and see if I can get it in with the ends under slung rather than on top of the springs. I had to trim down the knobs on the top of the blocks from 1” to 13/16” so they ...

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

Yes. And the sway bar is affected either way. I’m going to use the blocks because of the exhaust and also because I can’t be bothered pulling the springs off. I will probably take the bar off although I may be able to play around with it. I can put the body mount bar on that I got from fb delivery ...

They are hard to put back together so that the connecting rod seal seats over the raised cylinder, with the spring correctly seated, from memory. I believe this is correct fitment, which looks the same as yours.

Make ...
