Re: New Brake Drums ?
eBay ad says they suit EJ EH Craig, which ran the same wheels as FE -EK. Not that I would put much stock in what an eBay seller says, but I reckon the problem comes when the wider brakes and drums are used with early wheels. You can see that the hubcaps sit out further from the wheel on the HD HR ...

Re: New Brake Drums ?
It's amazing what transpires overtime and gets lost in conversation. I hope no one is running these drums with standard rims. The original drums were dished as was the rim. Think about it. The stud mounting face on EJ EH drums is flush with the outer rim of the drum. THIS FOULS on standard FB EK ...

Yes thanks mate. Still going well. Pipe size I used was 1/2" which is larger ID than the main gallery. I went larger to compensate for the number of restrictions from fittings and bends.

Re: Grey Motor teardown
Unless I've missed something, those big end bearings are not correct. No grey motor ever had side flanges on those bearings. You just cant fit them in unless the crank or rods have been modified. Only one main bearing set was configured this way because of end thrust loads on the crank.

Re: Harv's marinised grey motor thread
Nice work Andrew.
I'll plug this into my program and see how it comes up. Pity I already have had my cam ground by Clive. He never recommended this one at all knowing that it was for a crossflow headed grey.

Re: Steel timing gear for a EK grey motor
I wrote this some time ago, and the info is a little dated:

Most of the steel gears being flogged by resellers appear to be the Speco MFXCAM units. I've used them before (and am about to put ...

Re: Grecian White/Apache Red 225
Yep Blacky, my long trips are a problem now. Hopefully things get better down the track.
Thanks Errol, going ok.
Thanks Tim, Buster is flat out sleeping. I'll ask him tomorrow 😂 Looks like Molly is a car nut too.
Buster has a little friend now that keeps him busy and very tired. Beau.

Re: Maffra vehicle collection
That was a real surprise that little museum, saw the GTR-X there, Harrops Howler plus a bunch of rare Grey motored speed parts goodness there on our way to Launceston nats a few years back
I never get bored going there Blacky. It's great that they rotate in and out different collections every 4 ...

Looking for a reason not to sell this set up, its doing my head in. Health reasons and lack of use are creeping in. Seriously torn.

Maffra vehicle collection
I've been asked to display my FB in the collection for 4 months. The display is called "Maffra Marvels" and features local vehicles of all makes and eras. It is listed on their Facebook page and website. Display starts tomorrow till end of June. I'm honoured to be able to fly the flag for our club/s ...
