Buying an Engine

Hi all,

Time and funding has come for some engine work.

Im looking to take the original running grey out and store it, then the plan is to get a grey from a EJ to warm up as Ive been told the greys from the EJ had a few better things inside them and are a bit stronger.

As I need to buy a motor ...

Roof racks for FB Wagon

Does anyone have or know where there is a set of roof racks for a FB Wagon.

I generally ride short boards that fit in the back but have just acquired an awsome 60's single fin (7'4'') that would be better suited to the roof (plus just had our second child so the over the rear seat trick is out ...

Just did this myself. Used the red six alternator which is also the same used for the early model commodores.
Brand new was $235 from repco.

You will need around a 15-17mm spacer for the bottom bolt to bring it square with the fan belt and an long (200mm) alternator adjustment arm.

Also, thanks Trev for helping me out.

Thanks Trev,

Ive never done this job before and am relatively new to fixing cars - (I only tend to fix stuff that breaks) so Im going in with L plates on. :(

Heres what I think I should do:

Step 1. Disconnect the arm at the wiper motor

Step 2. Remove arm. Does the spindal thing simply pull ...

Thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed the pics. With regard to the buttons, none of them seem to do anything.

Ill sit down and spend some time and see how it cleans up. The car is only for Sundays and Ive finished Uni for another year so Ive got a bit of time to play.

Thanks for your advice

This was at Sandon Point, North of Wollongong, followed by a run up the coast road to Scarborough Pub.
